Remote Online Notary FAQs

What is a Remote Online Notary (RON)?

A Remote Online Notary is a state commissioned notary who notarizes documents electronically using secure, real-time audio-visual technology—allowing notarizations to be completed remotely and from anywhere (inside and outside of the United States).

You will meet virtually with a commissioned notary through a secure platform. During the session, your identity is verified, your document is signed and notarized electronically, completing the notarization in real time.

You do not. All remote online notarizations are completed online—no travel, printing, or scanning required.

At this time we only offer remote online notary service.

You’ll need:

  • A valid, government-issued photo ID
  • A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a camera and microphone
  • A stable internet connection
  • The document(s) you need notarized (in digital format)

Yes. Remote online notarization is legally recognized in many U.S. states. Acceptance depends on the receiving agency or jurisdiction. We are happy to help you determine whether RON is appropriate for your document.

In many cases, yes. However, acceptance varies by state, agency, or foreign country. If your document is intended for international use, we recommend confirming requirements in advance—especially if apostille or authentication services may be needed. Yes. Certain documents—such as some wills, will addendums, or court-specific filings—may require in-person notarization depending on state law or institutional rules.

The Leaon Ledger House uses secure identity verification methods via the BlueNotary platform. Verification may include credential analysis, knowledge-based authentication questions, and live video verification.

Yes. Your session is conducted via the BlueNotary platform, using encrypted technology and secure platforms designed to help protect your personal and document information.

Most remote online notarizations are completed in approximately 10–15 minutes.

Yes. As long as your device has a working camera, microphone, and internet access, you can complete your ID verification and notarization from your smartphone or tablet.

Yes. You will receive a completed electronic copy of your notarized document promptly after the session is completed.

The remote online notary fee is $25 per notarial act* + an administrative fee. Additional fees may apply, depending on the other services requested as part of the notary service (i.e., providing witnesses, document delivery, expedited notarization, etc.). All fees are clearly communicated prior to booking the session.

Yes. Multiple signers can participate in a remote notarization session. Additional coordination may be required depending on the document. Additional fees may apply.

No worries. Your notary will guide you through the process, and help address any errors during the session.

Yes. We offer flexible scheduling. Evening and weekend sessions are subject to appointment availability.
