Apostille FAQs

What is an Apostille?

An Apostille is an official certificate that verifies a document is authentic so it can be legally recognized in another country. It confirms that the signature, seal, or stamp on your document is valid and was issued by the proper authority. Apostilles are used when a document is going to a country that is part of the Hague Apostille Convention of 1961. If the destination country is not a part of that Hague Convention, its authentication process will require additional steps. In simple terms: an apostille makes your U.S. document “internationally acceptable”.

We assist individuals, businesses, and organizations with obtaining apostilles and document authentication for use outside of the United States. This includes guiding documents through the proper state, federal, and consular channels when required.

We help determine the correct process based on the country where your document will be used and the type of document you have. If you’re unsure, we walk you through it from the start.

We support both personal matters (such as family, education, or travel needs) and business or corporate documentation.

Examples of documents we can assist with: birth and marriage certificates, divorce decrees, diplomas and transcripts, powers of attorney, affidavits, business and corporate documents, and other personal or professional records. This list is not exhaustive.

Yes. For Non-Hague Convention countries, we manage the authentication process, which will involve state or federal certification, and consular legalization.

Part of our role is to help prevent delays by reviewing requirements carefully before submission. If an issue arises, we assist in trying to get it corrected, and moving the process forward. Additional fees may apply.

Yes. We work with documents issued across various states and coordinate with the appropriate authorities based on where the document originates.

No, it is not required. Many clients choose to work with an apostille agent to avoid confusion, delays, and unnecessary back-and-forth with government offices (e.g., Secretary of State, U.S. Dept. of State, Foreign Embassies, etc.).

We maintain clear communication and provide updates as your documents move through each stage.

Unfortunately, we do not. Processing times and approvals are controlled by government agencies (e.g., Secretary of State, U.S. Dept. of State, Foreign Embassies, etc.). While outcomes can’t be guaranteed, we focus on accuracy, preparation, and proper handling to support a smooth process.
